Global Food Security International Travel Scholarship

Through a generous gift from CAES alumni Dr. Hiram Larew, the Global Food Security International Travel Scholarship provides one $1,000 scholarship annually in support of a CAES undergraduate or graduate student participating in an international education activity focused on understanding the global community and the issue of food insecurity.

Eligibility

Applicants must be degree-seeking students enrolled in a CAES undergraduate or graduate program.  Eligible experiences must bear academic credit and may include international internships, study abroad programs, and/or international research.

Application and Award Information

  • Funding amount:  $1,000
  • Application Deadline: March 1
  • Application includes:
    • Application form
    • Finalized budget of international activity
    • Resume (max 2 pages)
    • Letter of recommendation
    • Essay (max 3 pages) describing your interest and experience with food security, the proposed international activity, and your plans to integrate the experience

Additional Requirements

With the opportunity to travel comes the responsibility to integrate those experiences into the community. Each recipient is expected to report on how they plan to incorporate their international experience in their coursework.
