What do you do at CAES?

My job gives me the opportunity to support students and faculty as they participate in experiential learning programs through the Deans’ Promise. On any given day, you can find me meeting with students for study abroad or internship advising, promoting CAES study abroad programs in classrooms, around campus or on social media, encouraging students to take advantage of the Deans’ Promise and, of course, answering emails with a cup of coffee in hand.

How do you interact with students and improve student life in CAES?

I meet with students quite often. Most students want to be involved in study abroad, or another experiential learning opportunity, but aren’t quite sure where to start. I’m always available to help them get started and/or connect them with the right people on campus. I also co-coordinate the Certificate in International Agriculture, and have the privilege of meeting with those students quite often as we plan their international internship experience.

What is your favorite thing about CAES?

As a CAES Alumna and now a staff member, I have to say my favorite thing about CAES is our breadth of opportunities for students to find their passion. We do a fantastic job of welcoming students from a variety of backgrounds and offering them the chance to discover what they’re great at and what they love doing. I discovered my love for travel, coffee and gardening through the Deans’ Promise during my time at CAES – 3 things that weren’t even on my radar as a freshman. My advice is to explore, discover and learn!
