  • Apr 28 Journeyman Farmer Training-Small Ruminant Production Carroll and Paulding County Extension are hosting a Journeyman Farmer program that provides comprehensive training for beginning farmers.  The program requires two-step training and the ability to complete both online training modules and in-person class meetings. Step 1: Small Farm Business Planning (March 10, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM) Step 2: Small Ruminant Production Online & In-Person Training (March 24, April 14, April 28, and May 12).  Participants must complete Step One before participating in Step Two. Step 3: Intern-Mentorship Opportunities The cost for the program is $80.00.  Registration will close on March 3, 2025.

  • Apr 29 Honeybee Removal Training This is a 2-day training course that will satisfy the HBR 8-hour classroom requirement for licensing set by the Structural Pest Control Commission.   • Apr 29 Novel Tall Fescue Renovation Workshop Learn about Novel Tall Fescue and how to renovate your pastures. Topics include on-farm demonstration, temporary fencing, and integrated weed management. Pesticide credits are available for Category 21, 22, and Private. Guest Speakers include Dr. Lisa Baxter, UGA Forage Specialist and Phillip Brown, USDA NRCS Grazing Specialist. Program is free and includes lunch.
