The University of Georgia Richmond County Extension Office is located in historic downtown Augusta. Our staff includes a full-time Agricultural Agent, Family & Consumer Science Agent, 4-H Agent, and an Expanded Food & Nutrition Educator, plus several program assistants and two administrative assistants. Does Richmond County Extension offer soil and water testing?
Yes, Richmond County Extension Office accepts soil and water samples in our office, then we ship the samples to be tested at the UGA lab in Athens. We offer a variety of soil and water tests. Please review the UGA testing schedule for a listing of the many types of analyses offered through our lab services. *Please note that prices in the fee schedule do not include postage and therefore do not reflect county testing prices. Prices and availability of testing services are subject to change. Contact us at 706-821-2350 to inquire about pricing and availability of test kits.
The most common soil test is the S1 (Routine Test) which tests soil for levels of pH, Lime, Phosphorous, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, and Manganese. We charge $8.00 for each S1 soil sample submission. We accept payments of cash, check or money order payable to Richmond County Extension. We are open Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. It takes approximately 7-10 business days for S1 soil test results to be returned from the lab. How can I identify what is causing problems with my plants?
Our experienced ANR staff can help you diagnose plant issues and offer advice to treat disease or pests that may be affecting your plants. Email photos of your plants and your questions to uge3245@uga.edu. Use this informative brochure to help guide you on the best ways to take photos of your plants for proper diagnosis.
What ages can participate in Richmond County 4-H Club?
Richmond County 4-H currently offers programming to youth in 4th - 12th grades. Enroll and join us! Does Richmond County 4-H have summer camp options?

Does Richmond County Extension offer in-home mold inspections?
The University of Georgia Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agent can provide advice on prevention and control of mold in your home, but we do not visit homes for mold inspections.

Mar 29 Richmond County 4-H Small Animal Club Small Animal Club is open to Richmond County youth in 4th through 12th grades during the 2024-2025 school year. Members will learn basic skills about caring for a small pet at each meeting. Throughout the year, members will be introduced to various small animals. Small Animal Club will meet one Saturday per month in September, October, November, January, February, March, and May, at 736 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901, in Saint John United Methodist Church. All members are required to enroll in Richmond County 4-H and pay a $10.00 registration fee. Apr 10 Attracting Backyard Wildlife & Hummingbird Feeder Build Join us at the Lincoln County Agriculture Center on April 10th at 6PM for an evening program about backyard wildlife! We will discuss how to enhance your property to attract desirable wildlife like pollinators and birds and how to manage those pesky nuisance animals. In addition to our lecture, we will teach you how to build a hummingbird feeder to take home. This program is suitable for families and youth of all ages. Pre-registration for this program is required by April 3, 2025 by calling 706-359-3233. There is a $25 fee per build kit - if families or couples would like to share a kit, that is absolutely fine, just let us know when you call. Payment can be made via cash, check, or card during our working hours, but is due by April 3rd. Day-of payments will not be accepted for this program.
